Natural Treatment of Hormone Imbalance in Men & Women

Naturopathic DoctorHormone imbalance can occur in men and women of any age.  A hormone imbalance may occur for a variety of reasons including puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, menopause, diet, activity level, stress, injuries, genetics, and medications.  Hormone imbalances may present a number of concerning symptoms or it may go completely unnoticed.  But, either way, a hormonal imbalance should be addressed and treated.  There are a myriad of pharmaceuticals available to treat various symptoms of hormone imbalance.  While it can be difficult to determine which treatment option is best, it is ideal to pursue a holistic healthy lifestyle and complimentary holistic treatments.

Naturopathic Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) is a common treatment for both men and women that are experiencing hormone imbalance. At Health for Life ND, we offer our patients physician-supervised, safe, and natural BHRT. We do not take a one-size-fits-all approach to BHRT – our formulations are customized to a patient’s individual health and needs based on their clinical history as well as laboratory testing.

Thought there are a multitude of doctors that offer BHRT, the process of treatment and quality of treatment is very different than a holistic approach.  When you work with a naturopath that is trained in BHRT, your patient-specific natural hormone formulation will be sent to a local compounding pharmacy where it will be carefully made with high-quality, natural ingredients.

How Are BHRT Formulations Determined?

Naturopathic bioidentical hormones are designed to balance your body’s own natural hormones and are produced in formulations that are biologically equivalent to your body’s chemistry.  In naturopathy, we always try to treat the body in the most natural and holistic way for optimal health.  Because of this, BHRT prescriptions are dosed with safe strategies  that actually improve symptoms while producing the lowest risk of side-effects.

What is in a BHRT Prescription?

Your BHRT prescription can be formulated in a number of ways and delivery methods (topical creams, sublingual hormone troches or lozenges, oral capsules, or hormone injections) depending on your specific needs and treatment plan.  Your BHRT prescription may contain any or all of the following: estradiol, estriol, DHEA, testosterone, progesterone and pregnenolone.  At Health for Life ND, we monitor our patients regularly.  This allows us to ensure that you continually have the proper dosing and to assess the improvement of your symptoms.
