Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQs)

ANSWER:

We do not bill insurance directly. Our philosophy is rooted in transforming the healing experience of healthcare, and stepping away from the traditional insurance-based medical model allows us to provide personalized, comprehensive care. Insurance companies often limit treatment options, placing them in the driver’s seat instead of the patient. We believe that when patients make their own medical decisions and commit to their health journey, they achieve better outcomes.

We accept HSA and FSA funds for payment and can provide a superbill for potential out-of-network reimbursement. For more details, please see our Insurance Philosophy.

ANSWER:

Naturopathic Medicine focuses on treating the root cause of illness and optimizing health and wellness. Unlike traditional medicine, which often manages symptoms, Naturopathic Doctors lead with natural and alternative therapies to support healing. At our practice, our physicians bridge conventional allopathic care with natural/alternative medicine to create an approach that aligns with the patient’s philosophy of medicine. We view the body as an interconnected system and develop treatment plans that address the whole person, not just isolated symptoms.

Many of our patients come to us because they feel let down by conventional medical approaches. Our goal is to empower patients with comprehensive, proactive care that aligns with their health and wellness goals.

ANSWER:

At Health for Life Naturopathic Medicine, we pride ourselves on:

  • Customized Care Plans: Every patient receives a personalized treatment plan tailored to their unique needs and goals.
  • Empathy and Listening: We take the time to understand each patient’s concerns and aspirations.
  • Education and Empowerment: We ensure our patients understand why certain tests or treatments are recommended, fostering a partnership in their health journey.
  • Collaborative Care Approach: Our patients benefit from our team of doctors working together to ensure the best, most comprehensive care for every patient.

This individualized approach enables us to provide transformative care that promotes true healing and wellness.

ANSWER:

While we are committed to following the Naturopathic philosophical approach, which may stand outside the conventional medical model at times, we embrace science and recognize the time and place for western medicine. This may include prescribing certain medications when the doctor and patient agree it is necessary, as well as leveraging both standard and advanced specialty labs and imaging to gain deeper insights into a patient’s health. Our integrative approach allows us to offer the best of both worlds: natural treatments alongside evidence-based medical care when appropriate.

ANSWER:

  • Basic Labs: These include common blood tests such as complete blood counts, metabolic panels, and hormone panels. These tests provide essential insights into a patient’s health and are often covered by insurance. We can facilitate insurance billing for these tests, but patients are responsible for understanding their coverage since we do not bill insurance directly.

Specialty Labs: These tests go beyond the basics to uncover root causes of health concerns or identify opportunities for optimization. Specialty labs provide deeper insights into areas like gut health, micronutrient levels, environmental toxicant levels or advanced hormone profiles. These labs are typically not covered by insurance, so we offer negotiated cash pay prices for patients who choose to proceed with this testing.

ANSWER:

We believe that healing is a collaborative process, and patient commitment is essential. Adhering to the care plan recommended by your doctor significantly improves your likelihood of achieving optimal health and wellness. Patients who are unable to fully commit may unintentionally delay their progress.

Our commitment to you is to provide the highest level of care, empathy, and education. In return, we ask for your active participation in your health journey to ensure the best possible outcomes.
